Bird Monster Papercraft

With their continued fascination of Hieronymus Bosch's macabre artwork, the Glue2Chronicle site has put up a new monster papercraft based on the triptych called "The Garden of Earthly Delights". You might remember a couple months back, we featured two other monster papercrafts from Glue2Chronicle based on that same triptych. You can see this bird monster on the right side panel of the triptych, this is Hieronymus Bosch's depiction of hell. In it, the bird monster is sitting on a high chair wearing what looks like a kettle on its head and flower vase for shoes, a human torso is half-way inside its mouth and a piece of long cloth is draping over it's legs. Boxpunx Paper Toys

Designer papercrafts are quite the rage today, comprised mostly of basic shapes (cubes, cylinders, and cones) they are easy to build and have an appealing design that fits perfectly well with beginners. A new batch from the Boxpunx paper toy series has arrived, this is the creation of illustrator Jason Harlan over at his harlancore web site. There's two classifications for these paper toys, the Boxpunx Mini and the Boxpunx Brute, both are on their first series' and has twety four models evenly split in half.

We've had a ton of Transformers papercrafts posted before but this one just beats the rest when it comes to the appearance. This Starscream papercraft is based on the extremely awesome version of the Transformers film. The pattern is not as refined as I would have wanted it to be, but with a final product that looks like that (see pic above), I'm all for it. It's in PDO format so you'll need to download the Pepakura viewer to view the file, oh and one more thing, it's a massive 81 pages. Take your time kids, take your time.

Design Your Own Easter Egg Paper Craft

Easter Eggs are quite popular with children due to their colorful and unique designs. Using paint, ribbons, glitter, felt tip pens, dye kits, etc. you can customized it's appearance base on your preference or liking. One particular design style caught my attention last night while I was searching for some easter egg paper craft, it's called the Pysanky or popularly known as Ukranian Easter Eggs. Unlike the traditional pastel colors here in the US, the Eukranian easter eggs have a distinct style, they are adorned with intricate symbolic designs and are brightly colored.



The designs on the Pysanky look complicated, how about we try an easier version with this paper craft courtesy of designer Steven Marshall. There's two paper models you can choose from and both of them comes with colored and blank patterns.

Sushi Papercraft Anyone?

I love food, heck, everybody loves food! One in particular that's been constantly gaining popularity to a wider audience of food lovers worldwide is sushi, yes, that rolled-up or flattened rice thingy with you-don't-know-what toppings in the middle of it, that's sushi. Japan's most tasty contribution to the culinary world is fast becoming a staple in some major continents. There are many types and varieties of sushi, ranging from simple (salmon/shrimp) to exotic (fugu/shark) and to the absurd (raw deer/chicken). But in order to get the real thing you might want to find a "GOOD" sushi bar or Japanese restaurant instead of picking one up in your local grocery or supermarket. If you've got the dough, I encourage you to visit Nobu, it's worth every penny. Today's post features free sushi paper crafts that also includes a beer cut-out paper model and a turntable paper automata. Don't get confused, this is not a repeat of the previous Portal papercraft I posted, that one focused more on the Weighted Companion Cube. This time around it's the actual Portal itself, complete with player, portal gun, weighted cubes, and a wall with portal ends (blue and orange). It depicts the scene of what you will see when you stare on one of the portal ends (mirror effect). Halloween Papercraft 4

Skeletons? check, vampires? check, zombies? check, hmmmm, everything seems to be in here. You can't go wrong with RavensBlight, Ray O'Bannon's personal ghost town and art gallery. A huge variety of papercrafts to be found on the town's Toy Shop, there are horrifying masks, paper coffins, a mechanical bat (paper automata), dioramas, paper models (battle hearse, splatterbot), and my favorite, the moving sculpture illusion.



After visiting the macabre, you can lighten up a bit with these cute Halloween box models from PaperBoxWorld that would look great on your office desk - they've got the scary skull, pumpkin, and bat paper models.



And finally, we visit Steam Crow Press, by Daniel Davis (monster illustrator/rogue indie publisher). On the Freebie section of the site you'll find some Halloween masks, there's a sorceress, pumpkin boy, lagoon creature, frankenstein, dr. vampiro and many other paper craft stuff. If your a really big fan of monsters and Halloween in particular, you might want to check out Mr. Davis' books "Caught Creatures" and "KlawBerry". Hello everybody, my name is Sam, I'm the not-so-new member of Paperkraft.net - I work as an illustrator mainly for children's books and I'm based in the New York city. I've been a follower of this blog since it's inception and have been posting comments on the sideline, I officially joined last February but I was in the process of moving to New York from Aachen, Germany, where I used to work. I have to admit that at first, papercraft wasn't really my thing, I was more into automata, and through this site, I have grown to loved papercraft and paper automata ever since. As you've noticed, the other members of the team are mostly working on papercraft models and origami, I will be posting only on paper automatas and some papercraft related news. Finally, I would like to thank Ron for giving me this opportunity and for the advices he shared with me with regards to posting (colored folders for backgrounds, photo size/watermarks, lighting, info. on the model, etc...) and hopefully earn the readers acceptance.



To kick things off, here is a paper automata from Canon (Japan), created by renowned paper engineer, Keisuke Saka - it is based on the Copernican System, also known as heliocentrism. Copernican, being from Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 - 1543), a Polish astronomer and mathematician who theorized that the Sun was the center of the universe/solar system. This model is 7" on it's widest part and about 6" tall, comes in PDF format.

Paper Art Friday - Dan McPharlin

Today we introduce a new segment on our site which we will call Paper Art Fridays. We'll scour the web to find both new and established artists and their works of art on which the medium has to be paper based and is not limited to the other paper crafts that we have posted here in the past.

We all know how difficult it is to do regular sized papercrafts and even harder with the smaller ones, well our first talented artist has no problems with that whatsoever, Dan McPharlin (ILLUSTRATOR/PAPERCRAFTER) and his hand-made cardboard miniatures are just magnificent - synthesizers and keyboards the size of an Ipod Shuffle and no bigger than your fist, due to Dan's amazing craftsmanship and exquisite detailing he has earned Paperkraft.net's first Paper Art Friday featured artist spot, so go check it out.
